Modulator One is an experiment in collaboratively authoring a past moment using the photography and code based systems, consisting of an interactive video work and multiple generative still images. Each image acts as a different recollection of the same moment under alternate conditions of lighting (enabled with photographic technology called Platelight).
The video is a record of a specific moment of creation which becomes mutable through your engagement. Touching or clicking on the video work will switch the lighting.
The still images are automatically generated by an algorithm upon being collected, using unique information to author the image dynamically.
Set in the construction site of a domestic interior, the house is used as a stage for shifting history and memory, where the past can be shaped into new stories, histories and identity.
The goal with this project is to present a past moment and experience its mutable nature collaboratively.
A selection of images from a total of 48 in the series, generated by friends, artists and collectors.
